Holidays in the Bavarian Forest

Discover the Bavarian Forest
from a new perspective

Active holiday or time out in the countryside? The Bavarian Forest can do both. On the Treetop Walk, you’ll experience nature at its peak – and boundless views of the seemingly endless expanses of the forest, the Bavarian Forest mountains and the northern Alpine ridge on the horizon.

Highlights of the
Bavarian forest

Lynxes and other native forest animals can be marveled at in the game enclosure in the National Park Center

Animal reserve

Visit the lynx, bear and other rare birds in their happy place: the 200-hectare wildlife area in the National Park is located directly by the entrance tower to the Treetop Walk. Here you can get up close and personal with around 40 native mammal and bird species, some of which are endangered.

The forest exhibition in the Hans-Eisenmann-Haus directly at the trail exit provides interesting information about Germany's oldest national park.

Hans-Eisenmann-Haus

Much more than a museum: indoor climbing monkeys can climb the Lusen in the Hans-Eisenmann-Haus. A cinema and an exhibition reveal the secrets of the national park. And the visitor centre also provides many other excursion tips in the vicinity.

For families there are numerous excursion tips in the Bavarian Forest with lots of fun and adventure for every family member

Family experiences

Race down the summer toboggan run in the bear bob or go for a hike with an alpaca: The Treetop Walk is not the only excursion option with the right amount of fun and adventure for your family holiday.

The art of glassmaking is a historic craft that characterizes and distinguishes the entire region

Glass art

Did you know that most glass trophies on television come from the Bavarian Forest? Whether it’s the Ski World Cup ball, the glass goblet that Arnold Schwarzenegger presents to bodybuilders at the “Arnold Sports Festival” or the women’s sculpture at the Womens World Award: what the stars hold up to the camera comes from Bodenmais! Glass is craft, art and passion and stands for the Bavarian Forest like nothing else.
